Prep Loses Opener
#1 Fairfield Prep lost its opening game of the Mount St. Charles Holiday Face-Off 3-1 to perennial power Bishop Hendricken (RI). Junior forward Connor Henry potted the Jesuit's only goal as Connecticut's number one dropped to 3-1-0 on the season. Bishop Hendricken improved to 5-0-1. Prep returns to action today against Mass power Springfield Cathedral. The puck drops at 2 p.m
Something Had To Give
Normally when Notre Dame-Fairfield and New Canaan meet a certain ranking accompanies their name. Both teams are off to a less than stellar start and are both coming off completely different seasons last year. New Canaan ran through the competition last year going 25-1 while ND Fairfield had a down year finishing 6-13-1 and not qualifying for the state tournament. So, something had to give Tuesday at Darien Ice Rink. Notre Dame-Fairfield carried a 2-1 lead into the third period but a game tying New Canaan goal from Peter Reinhardt and a stunning overtime brotherly connection from Spencer to Tyler Manchuck would allow the Rams to walk off with a dramatic 3-2 victory. Junior Mike Samuelenas finished with 29 saves for the Lancers but in the end Marty Roos' boys drop to 1-3 on the year, while New Canaan moves back to .500 at 2-2 and gains some much needed confidence.
Bobcats Impress Up North
Senior Joey Bonazelli, junior Chris Jones and sophomore Nolan O'Connor all tallied three points as the #8 South Windsor Bobcats put away the first of their two games against Maine competition Tuesday. The Bobcats return to action today against Kennebunk (ME) at 2 p.m.
