Where Do We Stand?

Who's In, Who's Out?
With the exception of a Wethersfield/Guilford game tomorrow, today is really the last day of the regular season. There are five games tonight. By my count, three of those games could affect seeding and positioning in the D2 and D3 tourneys. The other two, RMR @ Lyman Hall-HK and St. Bernard-FA-Bacon @ East Catholic shouldn't have much of an impact on any standings. The first key game drops at 3:50 with Fermi-Enfield hosting Conard at the Twin. This is a must win for Fermi. With a win, they will clinch the #14 seed in the D2 tournament. With a loss, they are out and Watertown-Pomperaug would get in as a #15 seed. Wilton is locked in as a #16 seed while Fairfield is the team bouncing between 14 and 15 based on Fermi's results. At 7:30 Wethersfield battles with Hall-Southington. While Wethersfield can't become an automatic qualifier anymore, they do have the potential to move into the #11 seed if they win out against Hall and Guilford tomorrow. Finally at 8 at the NIP, North Branford hosts BBD. BBD has been eliminated from contention but North Branford needs to win to move up to #12 in the D2 rankings.

So basically, D1 is set, seedings are below. D2 #1-11 are locked in. There can be some shifting among teams #12-16. D3 is set #1-10. Wethersfield has a chance to advance and alter the lower seeds there.

Conference Tourney Time!
The FCIAC's kicked off our conference tournament week last weekend with zero upsets, setting up a true #1-4 semifinal. I figured I'm not doing any predictions this week, so below are my conference tournament predictions.  Again, I'm not a huge fan of conference tournaments simply because of the risk of injury. I mean, look at Darien last year. A title candidate who's title hopes were pretty much erased when senior leader and 40 point scorer Brendan Hathaway's season was ended with a broken ankle in the FCIAC championship. To me, states are too important and I know there are many coaches in the area that agree with that sentiment.  That said, here are my predictions.
