CTHSHockey's D1 Week One Player(s) of the Week
Jesuit Forwards (Fairfield Prep)
Fairfield Prep's key to success have been their defensive brand of hockey. If they had a second key, it would certainly be their depth. That was no more evident this week when they got scoring across the board in blow out wins over Xavier and Hamden. Senior forwards David White, Nick Bargiello, and Connor Henry and junior Dean Lockery all chipped in with two goals and two assists over the course of the two games. White improved his team leading point total to 28 (12 G, 16 A), Henry is now up to 25 points (12 G, 13 A) on the year while Bargiello moved to 19 points (6 G, 13 A) and Lockery to 13 (7 G, 6 A) on the year. This team gets scoring from all over and this week those four are honored.
Billy Vizzo, Jr. Forward (NDWH)
The junior not only notched his 100th career point in an impressive amount of time but added a hat trick and an assist in a 6-1 win over West Haven. Vizzo continues to lead NDWH who looks like they've rebounded well from a rough patch against Prep and ND Fairfield.
Andrew Meoli, Jr. Forward (Xavier)
Meoli factored in on all of the Falcons' goals this week. He notched two of his own and assisted on two others in a 6-2 loss to Prep and a 2-2 tie against Bishop Hendricken.
Chris Koenneke, Sr. Goalie (New Canaan)
Koenneke was one of the hottest goalies in the state when the season started but quieted down quickly. He had a great week this week going 2-0 against Greenwich and Ridgefield. Koenneke stopped 44 of 45 shots sent his way this week earning his second shutout of the year.
Matt Longobardi, Jr. Forward (East Haven)
The East Haven captain couldn't have been happy with the team's 4-1 loss to Wilton. He responded by example notching a hat trick in a 5-4 OT win over Amity. Longobardi finished the week with 3 goals and 3 assists.
