CTHSHockey D1 Player of the Week

CTHSHockey's D1 Week One Player of the Week

NDWH's Vizzo
Billy Vizzo, Jr. Forward (NDWH)
Vizzo had a big week notching four goals and seven assists in wins over Iona Prep and East Haven.  The Vizzo-Greg Zullo-Ryan Lynch line has really come on of late NDWH coach Billy Gerosa and skated stride for stride with the Jesuits.  Vizzo has elevated his game from the rest and is a prime candidate for POTY with 39 points (19 G, 20 A) on the season.

HONORABLE MENTION
Austin Hansen, Sr. Forward (West Haven)
Hansen continues to carry the Blue Devils, stride by stride, to the state tournament.  The senior center potted five goals and helped on five more this week including a five point game in the Westie's 5-2 win over Scarsdale (NY).  Hansen now has 27 points on the year (12 G, 15 A).
David White, Sr. Forward (Fairfield Prep)
Mr. White joins the list again after a solid week.  White would have production off the charts if he played on any other team in the state, for now he'll settle for a four goal, two assist week.  White notched his second hat trick of the year against Darien and at one point in the game had as many goals as Darien had shots (3).  White now has 34 points (16 G, 18 A) on the year.
Brendan Hathway, Sr. Forward (Darien)
Darien's leader on and off the ice, Hathaway potted four goals and added three assists this week all while leading Darien to the FCIAC regular season title.  Hathaway finished the regular season with 40 points (20 G, 20 A) and is only three points shy of 100 for his career.
Cam McGuire, Jr. Forward (Ridgefield)
The shifty Tiger forward tallied four goals this week.  He is now tied for the team lead in points with 22 (11 G, 11 A) and has really come on of late scoring at least one goal in 6 of Ridgefield's last 7 games.
Greg Zullo, Sr. Forward (NDWH)
Centering arguably the state's best line, Zullo contributed in a big way this week with five goals and four assists.  He's now up to 27 points (9 G, 18 A) on the season but it's his and teammate Billy Vizzo's work on the PK that has stood out big time.  Two way hockey.
Eric Austin, Jr. Forward (NDWH)
Normally positioned on a checking line for this powerful ND offense, Austin joined in on the act big time this week notching four goals including a hat trick against Iona Prep (NY).  Austin is up to 15 points on the season.
CK Keator, Sr. Forward (St. Joseph)
The Cadets offensive machine chugged right along this week knocking home six goals while assisting on two more.  Keator, after a slow start, is now up to 35 points (22 g, 13 A) on the season and is keying one of the most dangerous offenses in the state.
Ryan Corcoran, Jr. Forward (St. Joseph)
Not to be overshadowed by Keator, the junior Corcoran added four goals and four assists this week to move his season total of points to 25 (12 G, 13 A).
Avery Clair, Sr. Forward (Glastonbury)
Not sure where the Tomahawks would be without their big bodied offensive star and their senior netminder, but luckily for them we don't have to find out.  Clair has another big week with five goals and an assist.  In the meantime Glastonbury has won five straight and Clair is up to 34 points (22 G, 12 A) on the year.
Matt Lodato, Jr. Forward (Greenwich)
The Cardinals have been beating up on the teams they should and even notched a quality victory over East Haven in the mix.  Lodato added four goals and an assist this week helping out a very spread out offensive group.
Stone Denbok, Jr. Goalie (ND Fairfield)
A big week for goalies saw some impressive performances.  Denbok, who's used to being recognized here had a huge week posting a .954 save percentage.  He bettered his GAA to 2.35 on the season and hasn't allowed more than two goals in a contest in over a month.
Mike Savino, So. Goalie (West Haven)
Savino posted a .924 save percentage this week and posted a stellar 42 save performance in a 3-3 tie against Hamden single handedly preventing a loss in that one.
Matt Beck, Jr. Goalie (Fairfield Prep)
Beck only appeared in the NDWH game, but boy did he.  The junior notched his second shutout of the year in dramatic fashion posting 30 saves on 30 shots to hold off NDWH in a 1-0 game.
Luc Amatruda, Sr. Goalie (NDWH)
Amatruda was equally as excellent Saturday at the Wonderland stopping 32 of 33 shots.  Amatruda posted a .922 save percentage this week while he was only really challenged on Saturday as Iona Prep and East Haven put on a combined 18 shots due to NDWH's stifling defense.
Chase Gabor, Sr. Goalie (Glastonbury)
The Glastonbury goalie had a rough start to the year but has been fantastic recently.  He posted a 34 save shutout over a tough ND Fairfield team which lead him to a .951 save percentage for the week.
