8 Elite Predictions: Mark these on the calendar:
1/11: #5 Ridgefield @ #2 Notre Dame-West Haven 4:15 @ Bennett Rink
Ridgefield fresh off their punishing of Westhill and their impressive over time victory over Xavier take on the Green Knights who will be eager to avenge their loss to Prep. Early enough start to make it to a late game as well on Wednesday if you're feeling really ambitious. NDWH 4, Ridgefield 2
1/11: #7 Xavier @ #3 Hamden 6:00 @ Lou Astorino Rink
Hamden is in dire need of a resume win and even though Xavier is not NDWH or Prep or the Westies it will still go a long way in building up the confidence of this Green Dragon squad. Xavier is looking to get back on the right track after a tough OT loss to Ridgefield and continue their upward climb as one of the state's quickest up and coming teams. Hamden 3, Xavier 2
1/11: Amity @ #1 Fairfield Prep 6:00 @ Wonderland of Ice Arena
Prep coach Matt Sather goes for his 200th win in what should be an otherwise meaningless game. Amity, known for pulling the occasional upset, could keep this one close but ultimately I think Prep wins this one big for their coach and fellow alum. Prep 6, Amity 1
1/12: Milford Co-op @ #8 East Haven 7:30 @ DiLungo Rink
In a game that has upset written all over it. East Haven takes on a 5-1 Milford team whose only loss came in a heartbreaker in overtime against a solid Branford squad. East Haven is only one of three division one teams on Milford's schedule so Milford certainly has had this game highlighted for some time. Milford Co-op 4, East Haven 3
1/13: #3 Hamden @ St. John's (Shrewsbury, MA) 7:00 @ Holy Cross College
Hamden heads to take on St. John's on Friday night in their toughest week of the season. After taking on Xavier Wednesday night, the Green Dragons also host vaunted Hingham, MA on Saturday mere hours after taking on the talented Pioneers of St. John's, Shrewsbury who've already topped a talented Xavier (Middletown) squad 5-3 this season. St. John's 4, Hamden 4 T
1/14: Notre-Dame Fairfield @ #2 Notre Dame-West Haven 1:00 @ Bennett Rink
The once proud Marty Roos coached Lancer program is in a sad state. They are 2-5 with wins coming against lesser D2 opponents. The Green Knights are a state title contender and have been one of the best teams out of the gate. Regardless, it's always fun to watch the "ND's" square off. NDWH 5, NDF 2
1/14: Hingham (MA) @ #3 Hamden 2:30 @ Lou Astorino Rink
Hamden finishes off their brutal week with Hingham High out of Massachusetts. The Harbormen come in at 6-2 and are ranked 5th in Massachusetts this week. They bring in 11 players over 6 feet tall with two towering in at 6'5". Hamden may be tired after just hours prior playing out at St. John's (Shrewsbury, MA). This does not bode well for the Dragons. Hingham 5, Hamden 2
1/14: St. Joseph @ #5 Ridgefield 8:50 @ Winter Garden Ice Arena
St. Joseph's had a rough week losing twice to New Canaan and South Windsor, now they get another tough FCIAC opponent. Ridgefield is playing with a lot of confidence and could be coming off a win against NDWH. Ridgefield 3, St. Joseph 1
