Wednesday 1/4 Recap

#1 Fairfield Prep 3, #3 Hamden 1
David White led the Jesuits two goals and an assist Wednesday night as top seeded Fairfield Prep defeated #3 Hamden 3-1 at the High Point Solutions Arena at Quinnipiac's TD Bank Sports Center.  White now has 8 goals and 16 points through seven games this year.  Prep also received a goal from junior Connor Henry, his fourth of the year.  Hamden's only tally came from senior Connor Walsh, his third goal of the season.  Fairfield Prep's Riley Wikman turned aside 24 shots while Hamden's Andy Varga backstopped 25 in the loss.  Prep moves to 5-2 on the year, including 4-0 against Connecticut competition while Hamden drops to 3-1.  Here is Mike Madera of the New Haven Register's article on the game.

#6 West Haven 5, Daniel Hand 4
The Blue Devils rallied back from a three goal deficit to defeat Daniel Hand 5-4 Wednesday at Northford Ice Pavilion.  Adam Mink scored the final three goals to propel the Westies to victory an avoid the Tigers' upset bit.  With the three goals Mink upped his season total to five.  West Haven also collected goals from Josh Robichaud and Kyle Leyerzapf while Mike Troiano added an assist moving his state leading season point total to 20.  Hand received goals from Mitch Brown, Nico Capone, Ryan DeMatteo and Mike Deane.  The Westies improve to 5-1 on the season while Hand drops to 3-2.

#Notre Dame-West Haven 2, Cheshire 1
In the opener at the TD Bank Sports Center triple header, the Golden Knights of Notre Dame-West Haven were given all they could handle from Cheshire.  Ultimately, a second period tally from Cameron Hotchkiss proved to be the difference.  NDWH received two point nights out of captain Colby Cretella (2 assists) and Greg Zullo (1 goal, 1 assist).  Cretella now has 16 points on the young season.  Cheshire received a late second period goal from Tyler Violano.  Cheshire netminder Tyler Carbone did his best in defeat turning away 30 NDWH shots.  NDWH moves to 7-0-0 on the season with the victory.
